2018 Swamp Bats Coaches

Lyndon Coleman
Lyndon Coleman, assistant coach at Pasco-Hernando State College in New Port Richey, Florida. is manager for your 2018 Swamp Bats. He’s also managed the Winchester (Virginia) Royals of the Valley Baseball League.

Gary Calhoun
Gary Calhoun, a manager in the minor leagues and a college coach and past assistant with the Winnipesaukee Muskrats will be assisting Coleman. Gary had a stellar career at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa over a 25+ year period, winning one D1 national championship.


Back in the day
Dave Moates coached for many years with State College of Florida after playing in the majors with the Texas Rangers.  Dave coached for 6 years in the Yankees minor league system.

Rounding out the staff is Julien Soucy, pitching coach at Southeastern University. Joining Coach Soucy is Southeastern U pitcher Jonathan Bermudez.

    Sounds like an interesting thesis. I do hope to read a good account of this sort one day.
    My fear with game-theoretic accounts is that they're too abstract. They might show us an abstract pattern most intelligent creatures will approach, but they (at least at the level I considered them) neglect the fact that all intelligent creatures aren't at this optimum peak, they're somewhere below that. And that, of course, includes us. They are a kind of eschatology of morality, rather than morality, in my opinion - saying where morality will end up, rather than where it is.

Weather woes

Wednesday’s weather took a toll on the NECBL schedule.  An afternoon tilt between the Valley Blue Sox and Sanford was scrapped with the idea the rain would blow away and allow us to play our scheduled regular season finale. Then, the rain blew our start from 6:30 till 8 pm. Your Swamp Bats will open the gates at 6 pm. A win for Keene means a home playoff game.   There will be no charge for Fan Appreciation night.

The Monday after

This was a great season. And such a young team! Many were players who just finished their first or second year of college. Kevin Watterson and Sara Pelkey did so much for the team, to put a great team together and hold great pregame and in-game activities. The volunteers, the sponsors, and a super group of interns made every Swamp Bats game an event. Adrian,Shannon, Nick, Josh, Maddie, Nick You can read of them here. Just as we wondered if winter would never end, we worry if the rain will ever stop. Certainly, we haven’t had the danger that’s befallen Pennsylvania and Virginia but golly, Mother Nature’s thrown a monkey wrench into the NECBL schedule.
